Introducing the debut solo EP from Faradena – an fascinating selection of evocative songs about life, love and death.
A British Afghani community musician and full time T’ai Chi teacher and practitioner, Fara is influenced by any musical form that involves rhythm – especially unusual ones, She plays bowed string instruments, piano and percussion.
As a result of three years of lockdown – which meant online playing and listening to international folk zoom sessions – Fara was encouraged to explore these songs by her late friend Dominic Mulvey and by her duo buddy Martin Kaszak. The result is an utterly unique mix of original songs and intriguing interpretations of traditional folk standards.
When not playing folk Fara runs the Noisy Women Present, a mixed media improvising group. She is also one of the conductors of the London Improvisers Orchestra, and recently started playing in Coco Mbassi’s band, playing music from Cameroon.
